Retrospectives

There will always be moments in which the most important choice of the day is whether to swim or sink. Mostly because the road through this life is paved with disappointment. Men will definitely disappoint you, women as well. You will discover one day that your car refuses to run. That your parents feel nothing for you but obligation. Or that your pet hates you. You will find yourself in a place completely strange of what you imagined not long before. Dreams, plans, ambitions. All will crash into what we so vaguely call reality. Slowly but surely, love, trust and generally feelings you thought unshakeable will make room for disgust, skepticism and relentless negativity. It is the way of things. Temporary. We are all residents in the chaos of change. I suppose the secret to it all is never to expect apologies. We are all animals, each waving the flag of its own interest. Regardless if we admit it or not, the darkness that clouds our days draws from us as much as it does from the rest of the world. Whether we forgive, forget, nurture hatred or comfortably slip into indifference, time refuses to solve our problems for us. Whether we cling to our humanity or not is matter of choice entirely. But in the end, can you really blame those that choose not to?
